Good old days

Kahraman first started working in a collective farm, named after Orjonikidze in Barda when he was 11. When the Soviet Union collapsed he started his own farm.

Now he is a pensioner and misses his old days very much. Kahraman thinks that living conditions were best in Soviet times. His wife Gulaya says: "We were working hard in the collective farm. But now everything is done by computers and that is good.” 

Fighting alone

Ahmedova Gulzar was born in Barda. 70 years old Gulzar lives in an old house with her son and his family. She runs her own little farm. Her son is seriously ill and cannot work. So Mother Gulzar is trying hard to keep family alive. She plants vegetables in little yard. And she keeps chicken and some cows. 

"My son was badly injured during Karabakh war. I am looking after his family", she says.

Gulzar is trying to register her son as a war veteran. She hopes the pension will improve their living conditions. 

Unlimited desires

Ibrahim is 12 years old. He lives in an old house with his mother. He loved to draw pictures buildings and earth in his childhood. His mother is proud of his drawings. She is keeping them for years. 

"I am divorced. Ibrahim and me have only 76 USD per month. I want him to go to special courses of drawing and become an artist", she says.

Ibrahim wants become stronger. "To become stronger I need to have sport courses", he says.
